Mathikettan Shola National Park Trek
Nestled in the Western Ghats of Kerala, the Mathikettan Shola National Park trek offers an unforgettable journey through one of India’s most biodiverse rainforests. This trail showcases the unique shola forest ecosystem – a mist-laden mix of high-altitude grasslands and interwoven woodland. Mathikettan translates to “Mind Confuser”, a name given due to the forest’s maze-like terrain that can easily disorient those unfamiliar with its secrets. Shola refers to the dense evergreen forests found exclusively in the high-altitude regions of the Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
