The area that surrounds Shola Crown is rich in dense rainforests with the Mathikettan Shola National Park starting right behind our property. There are some beautiful Cardamom plantations that make up for easy treks/walks. Here is a list of best Munnar trekking opportunities we offer:

• Shola Sunset Trek: An Easy-Moderate trek that starts from a village near our property. In order to reach the start of the trail, we ride on a 30 minutes 4×4 Jeep ride. The trail starts with an easy walk through the Cardamom estates, which make for a good photo opportunity. The walk is followed by a climb to the hilltop, where you will see panoramic views of the Anyaringal Dam and the Munnar area.

• Tribal Village Trek: The trek starts from behind our property, through cardamom plantations, followed by rainforests. The rainforests are another experience in themselves, as there’s flora and fauna not seen elsewhere – some in colors that make you wonder the uniqueness in nature! The walk through the rainforests is followed by a climb up a hilltop where the tribal farms are located. Once you reach the villages, you will be amazed by their ways of living! So different and interesting – the huts, the farms, the temples!

• Shola Peak Trek: Nearly 5000 ft above seal level, the trek to the Shola peak is a difficult one but once you arrive  it’s a beautiful view at the top and you have one foot in Kerala and one foot in Tamil Nadu.

• Mathikettan Shola National Park – The guided trek through the dense rainforests of the national park, is a great way to see flora and fauna up close. The name Mathikettan means – confusing as the trails are confusing and hence one needs a guided trek through the national park.
